Maui, 2009

In 2009, my daughter, Karen, became a flight attendant for a small regional airline. Small as it was, though, it gave her flight benefits—not only for her, but for her parents, as well! That meant I would, finally, be able to see some of the places I'd longed to see…like Hawaii!

With Jason In Maui, 2011

When I was still in the hospital with necrotizing fasciitis, it became evident that my illness was taking its toll on Jason. Before I even came home, it was clear that somehow my illness had affected him. He was unable to sleep during the night and unable to stay awake during the day. He told me he was having trouble focusing on his tasks at work and couldn't hold a coherent conversation when he was with me. Clearly, something had to be done.

With Keith In Maui, 2019

Maui is the most romantic place I've ever been to. Not that I've had a lot of chance to be romantic there, as the first trip I made, I made solo; the second was with my boyfriend of the time (and foreshadowed the end of our relationship); the third was for my daughter's wedding.

This time is different. It's for my dear husband Keith's birthday, and is doubling as our delayed honeymoon. And I have every intention of being romantic on it!

My daughter, Jenny, came to Maui to visit her property but also for Spring Break (even toddlers get Spring Break!). She registered at the Travaasa Hana Maui, a lovely resort that is so Hawaiian the suites don't even have televisions!
