PCIP-SCOPE Calibration Program
------------------------------

The VisualSCOPE software includes a Windows-based PCIP-SCOPE Calibration
program as well as the DOS-based calibration software, SCOPECAL.EXE, included
with the PCIP-SCOPE.  The Windows program allows you to perform calibration
without having to quit Windows, load the DOS TSRs for PCIP-SCOPE, run
SCOPECAL.EXE, unload the TSRs, and then re-start Windows.

VisualSCOPE includes two Windows-based calibration programs, PSCOPCAL.EXE and
PCALRT.EXE, which support all the features of the DOS-based program.  The
PSCOPCAL.EXE program includes complete Visual Basic source, but it uses
several custom controls included only with Visual Basic Professional. (You
won't be able to compile it with the "standard" version of Visual Basic
unless you rewrite some parts.)  The PCALRT.EXE program is functionally
identical, but uses the same high-speed, real-time chart control that
VisualSCOPE uses for fast screen updates.  Source for PCALRT.EXE isn't
provided as the LabOBJX(R) Real-Time Chart control requires a separate
license for development.  We recommend you use the PCALRT.EXE program for
calibrations as screen redraws lag hardware adjustments with the other
program.


Installation
------------

Installing VisualSCOPE or the PCIP-SCOPE Control installs the Windows-based
calibration programs in the main installation directory.  Before using the
programs, you must know the PCIP-SCOPE Base Address.  If you've already run
VisualSCOPE successfully, the calibration programs will automatically use the
same address.  If you haven't run VisualSCOPE, then you must set the correct
Base Address when the calibration programs start.  The calibration programs
set the Base Address using same dialogs as VisualSCOPE.  If you need more

Required Equipment
------------------
  1. DC voltage source with +/- 10 volt range and 1 mV resolution.
  2. Frequency generator with a 100 Hz to 1 MHz range and 100 mV to 10 Vpp
     output.
  3. A non-metallic adjustment tool for adjustments.


Procedure
---------

The calibration program provides brief instructions in a window.  See Chapter
7, Calibration and Adjustment, in the PCIP-SCOPE User Manual for complete
explanations of the adjustment procedures.

The Windows-based calibration utilities don't restrict the order of
adjustments, but you MUST make most adjustments in a specific order as the
adjustments depend on the previous adjustments for accurate calibration of
the PCIP-SCOPE.  Note that the calibration program lists the adjustments in
the correct sequence on the menus.

TIP: Double-click on the graph display to toggle its size between small and
     large.

First perform the following adjustments for one channel in the order listed
and then for the other channel.  PSCOPCAL.EXE will prompt you for actual
input voltages and frequencies.

  1. Offset Adjust
       NOTE: Multiplexer amplifier and preamplifier DC offset adjustments 
             interact with each other.  Adjust by alternating between them 
             until you obtain an offset closest to 0 volts.
  2. Gain Adjust
  3. Preamplifier Response
  4. Attenuator Frequency Response
  5. 10:1 Probe Frequency Response (1/1)
  6. 10:1 Probe Frequency Response (1/40)
  7. Interlace Adjust
