help file or the printed documentation.

INSTALLATION
============

PCS-View must be installed from the Windows Program Manager. Insert this disk
in your floppy drive (assume it is A:), and select FILE, RUN and key in:

	A:SETUP.EXE

The default directory name for installation is \PCSVIEW, you may change this
during installation.

NOTE!!!
The SETUP program will install CTL3DV2.DLL into your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM
directory on your default drive. If you have installed Windows in a
directory other than the above name or on a drive that is not your
default drive, you will have to copy this file from the installation
floppy disk to your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. If this file is not
installed properly you will see an error dialog box come up stating
program cannot find this file, the program will continue to run
without it (it simply provides the eye pleasing 3D effects on dialog
boxes).

============================================================================

Also read the PCSINFO.WRI file (in Windows Write format). You may access
it by double clicking on the PCSINFO icon that is delivered in the above
installation.
============================================================================

If you experience very slow display speeds, try disabling Backing Store
in User Options, on some graphics cards this cuts display times dramatically.
Please note that a math coprocessor is required to run PCS-View.

NOTE: When using the import font option to convert font cell libraries
to PCS-View compatible *.FON file, after the conversion you must exit
PCS-View and then re-start it before calling up any files for viewing.
If you are updating to a new version of PCS-View, you must also delete
previous copies of the *.FON files that you created from your custom
font cell libraries and re-import them.

NOTE: New improved CIT & RLE display makes use of some temporary files
called *.A and *.B stored in the PCSVIEW directory. These are normally
deleted when you exit PCS-View, but if you exit abnormally (say a reboot)
then you will have to clean up these files manually.

Know problems and limitations

1. You can't edit fractions in text.
2. There are no group commands yet. (Fixed see below)
3. Some exotic element types not supported yet (b-splines for example).
4. You can call up a raster (CIT or RLE) file, but don't try to place
any elements in it (it's not a design file, raster editing is coming).
I/RAS hybrid vector raster file is OK.
5. Limited support for 4.X and 5.X (only shared cells and multi lines
   are supported for display only.)
6. Version 4.0.0.b - Demo version only, ignore message regarding files
   must be named PANGAEA.DGN

Fence Commands
Support in this version for fence commands. Select the FENCE tool button
to see the supported commands, as well as to place a block or multi sided
fence.

Change Symbology
Allows you to alter the weight, style and color of a selected element
to your current settings (use the SETTINGS tool button to set this)

Extract Symbology
You can set your current symbology to that of an existing element by
using this tool button, identify and accept the element.

Toggle Dialogs
You may leave dialogs such as FENCE and SETTINGS on the screen while
you are drawing. If you need to draw where one of the dialog boxes
are, use the TOGGLE button to send move them behind your design file.
Pressing TOGGLE one more time will birng them back to the front again.

Scale Raster Image
You can now attach a raster file format such as CIT, RLE or BMP to an
existing DGN file, and define two points on a diagonal to scale the image
up by when it is displayed in the DGN file. (This would allow for heads
up digitizing using either redline commands in PCS-View or edit commands in
PCS-Edit). Call up a design file, use the Raster, Display option, and fill in
the name of the raster file in the Raster File To Attach field (or use the File Assist
button). Then select the Attach Session Only button and then give two mouse
clicks to define a diagonal on the screen in which to display the raster file.
The raster file attachment is for the session only in PCS-View. PCS-Edit will have
a command in the next release to write the attachment information to the
design file so that it may be saved.

Redline toolbar now is un-dockable. You may move and resize the redline toolbar.
Simply place the mouse cursor on a button near a blank space, then move onto the
blank space. The hint box will say UN_DOCK TOOLBAR, click the mouse. You may
now move and resize the toolbar.

Edit is here.....

The very first non MicroStation DGN file editor, PCS-Edit. Want to know more?
How much will it cost? As you can tell from our pricing for PCS-View, we
aren't out to get rich quick. The price is a very reasonable US$299.95 +
US$5.00 shipping.
