Welcome to LabOBJX Real-Time Chart Demo!

This program installs the demo version of LabOBJX Real-Time Chart onto your
hard disk. With the demo, you can create complete working applications with
LabOBJX Real-Time Chart, but you'll only be able to run your programs from
within Visual Basic's Integrated Development Environment.

If you purchase the full product, you'll get

  1. A runtime version of LabOBJX Real-Time Chart for creating standalone
     executables that you can redistribute.
  2. Printed documentation.
  3. 256-Color mode support.
  4. Technical support.

Important Note
--------------
When running ANY Windows installation or setup program, you should exit all
other Windows applications. This will avoid possible conflicts with running
applications using system components that the install program needs to
replace. For more information, see "System Modifications".

To Continue
-----------
To close this window and continue with Setup, do one of the following:

  1. Double-click the sytem icon in the upper left-hand corner.
  2. Press Alt+F4 on the keyboard.
  3. Click the system icon and then click the Close menu item.

Full Install
------------
This option installs the LabOBJX Real-Time Chart custom control and several
supporting components. Most files are installed into a user-selected
directory, but some files are installed into the Windows system directory.
For more information, see the "Custom Install" and "Network Install"
sections.

System Modifications
--------------------
This install program DOES NOT make any modifications to your config.sys,
autoexec.bat, win.ini, or system.ini. (The full product includes Microsoft
WinG support which does modify your system.ini file). A Full Install MAY
update some Windows and 3rd-party DLLs in the \windows\system directory.
SETUP updates these files ONLY after asking your permission. SETUP renames the
older versions. For more information, see the "Custom Install" section.

Custom Install
--------------
This option allows you to choose which components to install onto the hard
disk. You may also manually install single files from the distribution disks.
See the "Decompressing Files" section below.

LabOBJX Real-Time Chart -- custom control, API and demo programs
  On-line Help -- on-line help system for LabOBJX Real-Time
                               Chart
Visual Basic Examples -- source code for sample applications
Visual Basic 3.0 controls -- custom controls for VB examples
Utilities -- utilities for manually decompressing files.

SETUP installs the LabOBJX Real-Time Chart custom control in your
\windows\system directory. This will allow any applications you develop to
easily locate this control.

The On-line Help system contains the latest version of the documentation.
You may access it directly or via LabOBJX Real-Time Chart's design-time help.

If you want to run the precompiled demo applications or compile some of the
VB samples, you will need to install the "Visual Basic 3.0 controls".

SETUP installs the "Visual Basic 3.0 controls" into your \windows\system
directory. You may have installed already many of these files with Microsoft
Visual Basic 3.0 Professional Edition or other applications. If so, SETUP
will ask your permission BEFORE replacing existing files. SETUP will rename
the existing files with the extension ".Bnn" where "nn" is a unique number.
Please note that SETUP may fail if any other application is actively using
these custom controls when SETUP is run.

To prevent overwriting older versions of VB 3.0 custom controls in the
\windows\system directory, you can either not install the Visual Basic 3.0
controls or install them into the \windows directory by following the
instructions in Network Install below. You can also selectively install just
the files you are missing. See the section, "Uncompressing Files", below.

Network Install
---------------
If you are running Windows from a network server, your workstation doesn't
have a local \windows\system directory for the custom controls and the
Windows system files. In this case, you should start the install program with
the "/N" switch to install these components into the local \windows directory.
Execute the install program from the Program Manager File/Run dialog using
"<drive>:install /N" as the command where <drive> is the location of the
installation disks.

Decompressing Files
-------------------
Some files on the Distribution Disks are compressed. If you don't
use the installation program or you need to copy one of the original files
onto your hard disk, use the EXTRACT.EXE utility located on the first
diskette.

To decompress or extract a file to a specific destination directory, type:

EXTRACT /U:C:\WINDOWS\APPDIR A:\<file>.$00

You may specify wildcards for either the destination or the files.

Uninstall
---------
The installation process saves a log file of its activities in the
directory you selected for installing LabOBJX Real-Time Chart. This file,
install.log, is a simple ASCII text file that you can use for manually
removing selected components. Alternatively, you may uninstall LabOBJX
Real-Time Chart from your system by inserting the original installation disk
and typing "<drive>:uninstall" as the command in the Program Manager File/Run
dialog. The uninstall program will guide you in removing some or all
LabOBJX files from your system. You can remove all files except the
Windows system files.

Note that the uninstall program can only remove files from the default
installation directory. Uninstall will NOT rename any backup files created by
SETUP. You must rename these files manually.
