| A song about being a young dad in the '70s. |
| Estimated reading time: 2 minute(s) (290 words) |
When the 1970s began, I was a young man with big plans and the whole world
apparently open to me. By the time they ended, I was a husband and a father of four,
working to keep a household fed, and the plans had changed. I wrote this song as a wink
at that gap between the dreams and the diapers. Being a young dad was hard, but it was
also some of the best of my life. The kids were there at the window waiting for me,
and that mattered more than any of the plans. I changed a lot of things in those years,
and as it turned out, the thing I changed most was me.
